Gunung Ijen

After watching the sunrise over Mount Bromo I went to see another volcano. Mount Ijen is famous for the blue water of its crater lake and the hard working men who carry up sulfur from the crater (they fill their baskets with up to 140 Kg of sulfur). Lonely roads through green forests led to the volcano and I arrived at dawn. I slept little and started the hike up to the crater rim in the darkness of the early morning. This was crucial as the clear view over the crater lake only lasted shortly.
